The 3rd Lancashire & North West Scythe Festival

Environmental event for all ages.
Scything Workshops, Saturday 25th July (10am - 4.00pm).
Learn how to scythe; workshops for beginners and skilled people, an introduction to the use and care of a scythe, and the restoration of upland meadows.
Lancashire Scything Competition, Sunday 26th July (12noon - 5pm).
The Third Lancashire & NW Scything Competition; public displays of different scythe types and scything techniques, the scythe clinic - restoration of old scythes and re-tempering blades, and demonstrations of related rural field craft traditions; hay rope making, rake making, and hayrick building.
Free entry; children's events, refreshments, country crafts.
